Split call — dismissed & recalled same dayNote: this is NOT "splits" in the sense of call times creeping later across a week into a fraturday — that pattern is already handled by the turnaround math, day to day. This is one day with a genuine mid-day dismissal and recall (e.g. sunrise block, released, back for sunset). The CPA has NO same-day dismissal-and-recall mechanism, so such a day has two defensible billing theories — pick one via the Split call dropdown, and give the producer both as options: Position A (paid through) — one continuous day on the OT ladder, no turnaround, arguing there was no genuine dismissal (the gap is just paid time you're owed). Position B (two calls) — each block bills on its own ladder PLUS a turnaround penalty for the sub-10-hr midday gap (under 6 hrs rest → +1 hr straight time for ALL recalled-block hours). The two theories are mutually exclusive — you can't claim "no real dismissal" (A) and "dismissal triggered turnaround" (B) at once. The tool shows both totals so you can choose; often A is both higher and the cleaner argument.
Weekly-tracked itemsThree things depend on the whole week, not one day: (1) 6th/7th day multipliers — the work week is "any five or six consecutive work days within seven consecutive days," so your 6th worked day pays 1.5× and 7th pays 2.0× regardless of that day's hours. The app counts worked days per week and sets this automatically; change the dropdown to override and it'll show "manual." (2) 20-penalty meal cap — past 20 meal violations in a workweek, further ½-hr violations pay one hour of prevailing rate each instead of the flat schedule. (3) Weekend turnaround — 54 hrs after a five-day week, 32 hrs after a six-day week. Note: the CPA covers employees. If you're invoicing as an independent contractor, weekly overtime under FLSA/state wage law is a separate question from these contract tiers — worth asking a labor attorney rather than assuming either applies.
Source documents & currencyBase text: 2022 CPA. The 2025–2028 MOA (executed 9/30/25, term through 9/30/28) carries all 2022 provisions forward unchanged except scale rates (+4% / +3.5% Oct 1 2026 / +3% Oct 1 2027), benefit contributions (+$5/day/yr), and two side letters (ADR, information exchange). MP schedule, OT tiers, turnaround, and zone/travel language verified current against both the MOA and the official 2025–2028 wage charts.
2025–2028 scale rates — Outside LA County (hourly)Through 9/30/26 → from 10/1/26: DIT $90.00 → $93.15 · 1st AC $68.33 → $70.72 · 2nd AC $62.74 → $64.94 · Cam Op $94.45 → $97.76 · Sound Mixer $97.43 → $100.84 · Key Grip / CLT $61.15 → $63.29 · Grip / Lighting Tech $52.27 → $54.10. Min call = 8 × hourly. A quoted "day rate / 12" deal converts to hourly via ÷14 — compare that number against scale to see where your deal sits. Appendix B rates (outside LA County). Work inside LA County uses Appendix A, and the Northeast Corridor has its own schedule — check the wage charts for your region.
Work clock, minimums & roundingWork time runs set call → set dismissal. Minimum call: 8 work hours (travel-only days: 4-hr min, 8-hr max at straight allowance). All time computed in ¼-hour units — this app rounds worked time and turnaround UP to the next quarter hour (employee-favorable); each card shows your raw logged time next to the billed figure. Overtime premiums never compound.
1st mealDue within 6 hrs of call time. Late = penalty from due time to when meal actually started.
2nd mealApplies once you work past the 8-hr minimum call (the app auto-checks this from your hours). Due within 6 hrs of the end of the 1st meal. If no 2nd meal was given, delay runs until wrap.
NDB — non-deductible breakfastIf called in earlier than regular crew call AND given a hot breakfast with time to sit and eat, your 1st meal clock runs from the regular crew call instead of your early call. Toggle it on and enter the regular crew call.
MP rate per ½ hr (or fraction)1st: $10 · 2nd: $12.50 · 3rd: $15 · 4th: $20 · 5th+: $25 — each block stacks on top of the last. After 20 violations in a workweek, further ½-hr violations pay one hour of prevailing rate (incl. OT) each — the app flags this but can't compute it.
Day-rate → hourlyHourly = Day Rate ÷ (8 + (Committed Hrs − 8) × 1.5). $750/12 → 750 ÷ 14 = $53.57/hr.

Daily rest / turnaround (main CPA)10-hr rest period, measured portal to portal — door to door, meaning from when you got home one night to when you left home the next morning. Your commute is NOT rest, so drive time eats into the 10 hours. Enter "Left home (AM)" and "Got home (PM)" on each day card; if left blank, the tool falls back to set call/wrap (which understates the invasion for anyone with a real commute). Invaded with ≥6 hrs rest given: +1 hr straight time per invaded hour. Under 6 hrs rest: +1 hr straight time for ALL hours worked on the next call.
Weekend turnaround54 hrs after a 5-day workweek · 32 hrs after a 6-day workweek, same portal-to-portal basis and infringement payment as daily. The app picks the threshold from the calendar gap between worked days.
Zone travelThe production zone is a 30-mile radius. For the named production centers the CPA lists, it's measured from that city's designated point; elsewhere, it's measured from the production's base of operations (production office, or that city's City Hall by convention) — establish this with production before invoicing, since it sets every distance claim. Inside the zone, the commute is on you. Outside: travel time beyond the zone edge is paid at 1x as an allowance — but ONLY for pre-call / post-wrap legs. Mid-day company moves are already in your work hours. Mileage (drivers only, own vehicle) is a separate line at the IRS rate: zone-edge miles for reporting out-of-zone, and any required inter-location legs in or out of zone.
CPA vs. CPA Supplement — two forksThis app uses the main CPA (the conservative fork). A parallel Supplement covers non-BFPE / late-signing companies and is richer for crew: outside-zone travel is paid as WORK TIME (feeds the OT tiers, and doesn't accrue meal penalties) and overnight-location work time runs portal-to-portal with no 1-hr daily travel cap (2022 MOA, Art. XIX Supplement-only modifications). Know which fork a job's benchmark is before invoicing.
When work time ends & vehicle driversWork time ends at dismissal "or when employee is no longer performing duties or assignments as directed by the Employer" (Art. XIV as amended, 2022 MOA). Securing a production vehicle is a directed duty — drivers are on the clock until the vehicle is parked and locked.
